Close the incineration loophole now
Ask your MSP to call on the Scottish Government to immediately direct SEPA to refuse new permits for new and expanded incineration plants.
There was a ban on new incinerators put in place two years ago in Scotland, but new ones are still being built.
Loopholes in the legislation mean incinerators already in the planning system can evade the ban. Developers are racing to get them built, despite the clear evidence that Scotland does not need any more incineration capacity.
Incineration of waste emits harmful pollution, contributes to climate change, and prevents effective reuse and recycling.
