After Trump quits Paris, call on Nicola Sturgeon to show strong climate leadership

After months of threatening it, he's finally gone and done it. Climate-denier Donald Trump has pulled the US out of the United Nations Paris Agreement that commits world leaders to tackling dangerous global warming. In doing so Trump has shown he doesn’t care about the lives of millions of people around the world who are endangered by rising seas, droughts, famine and floods.  But Trump is increasingly isolated on the world stage with his divisive and backwards policies that could destroy decades of social and environmental progress.

Here in Scotland our emissions are a fraction of the US's. But we punch above our weight on the world stage as a climate leader, and we can send a strong message of hope by redoubling our efforts and commitment to tackling climate change.

Write to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon now, calling on her to make a statement to Parliament re-committing to a Climate Act that delivers a fair share of global efforts to limit warming to 1.5ºC.

Urge her to send a clear message to Donald Trump that Scotland will join with other progressive nations in exerting diplomatic and economic pressure to persuade the US to take serious climate action.
