This march is being organised by a coalition of groups and individuals who share a vision of a better world. We believe that this better world is possible, and that we must work together across issues to make it happen. Below are our three headline demands, which encompass many of the issues we are facing.

GLOBAL SOLIDARITY

We stand with communities around the world who have been the most affected by climate change, but who have done the least to cause the crisis.

These are communities who are struggling to pay for energy, but whose health is impacted by pollution from fossil fuels. Communities defending their land from deforestation and the impact of mining or extractive industries, or fighting new oil, gas and coal projects being developed by fossil fuel companies for export to the Global North. Communities who are being displaced by war, extreme weather and economic pressures and facing a hostile environment when they seek safety elsewhere.

Our hearts are breaking at the occupation and genocide in Palestine. Military equipment exported from Britain enables the bombing of civilians, polluting the air and land of Gaza and sends greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. We oppose the military corporations and fossil fuel companies who continue to profit from imperialism in Palestine and across the world.

FAIR TRANSITION

We know we need to move beyond fossil fuels in order to halt climate breakdown, but this must happen in a way that gives a better life to everyone, here in Scotland and around the world.

This global transition must be led by the communities and workers most affected, not the destructive industries whose sole objective is profit.

We have the potential to secure better housing, better public transport, and better jobs for all if this transition is managed correctly. But currently, fossil fuel companies are doing everything they can to slow the transition and maintain their influence through greenwashing schemes.

We do not want a green transition that only benefits the rich and the Global North, while sacrificing the poor and the Global South.

CARING FOR OUR PLANET

Climate change and loss of wildlife are deeply connected, but nature offers powerful solutions. By restoring nature, we can help cut emissions, protect against floods and droughts, and bring our landscapes bursting back to life.

Through nature-friendly farming we can restore habitats, protect pollinators, and grow food in a way that works for people and planet. By restoring peatlands, expanding native woodlands, and protecting blue carbon habitats in our seas, we can store carbon while replenishing biodiversity.

A future where wildlife and people can thrive is within reach. But we must act now.
