On Wednesday 16th September, MSPs will have their first chance to vote in favour of stopping massive AI data centres. 

This vote in the Scottish Parliament is a crucial step towards a full moratorium that halts these developments until a proper assessment of their environment and social impacts has been done. It is critical that we get as many MSPs as possible to vote.  

More than 20 monster data centres are being planned in Scotland, facing strong community opposition almost everywhere they have been proposed. 

The massive scale of these projects means that they would have devastating implications for people who live nearby and require huge amounts of energy and materials. As they stand, these plans are undemocratic and environmentally destructive. 

MSPs must show that they are on the side of the communities they represent, rather than the big tech firms trying to rush these projects through for their own profits.  

In the USA, sustained community opposition to developments has meant hundreds of places have bans or restrictions on data centres.  

Urge your MSP to protect people and nature and to vote for immediate moratorium on all planning decisions for major data centres in Scotland
