Defend the Defenders is a fundraiser that will support Friends of the Earth International’s Internationalist Solidarity System, a rapid-response fund that gets money directly to environmental defenders facing threats, criminalisation and violence for protecting land, water and territory around the world. At a time when frontline communities are under increasing pressure, this is a chance to gather, celebrate international solidarity in action, hear incredible artists, and remember that another world is something we build together.

Expect a warm, joyful evening with music to dance to, poetry to move you, and stories that connect struggles across borders.

Tickets are pay what you can because we want everyone to be able to join. When you sign up, there’ll be the option to add a donation if you’d like to contribute towards the Internationalist Solidarity System.

Pippa Blundell

Pippa Blundell is fast becoming one of Glasgow's most captivating new voices. The rising singer-songwriter has already earned recognition from the Scottish Album of the Year Awards, Scottish Alternative Music awards and winner of the 2025 rising star in the Scottish Jazz Awards.

Their music blends the intimacy of folk storytelling with ambient textures and a classical vocal edge, drawing comparisons to This Is the Kit and Jeff Buckley.

Sandino e seu Bando

Sandino e seu Bando is a Brazilian music ensemble led by Sandino on the melodeon, accompanied by rhythmic percussion. Playing in the traditional trio format, they bring authentic Forró Pé de Serra, traditional northeastern Brazilian music, with a flavour rarely heard in Scotland. Be ready to dance.

Alycia Pirmohamed

Alycia Pirmohamed is a Canadian-born poet based in Scotland. She won the Nan Shepherd Prize for her nonfiction debut Shorelines, forthcoming with Canongate in 2026.

She is the author of the poetry collection Another Way to Split Water. In 2026, Alycia received the Dr Gavin Wallace Fellowship with Creative Scotland and DG Unlimited.

Henry Bell

Henry Bell is an award winning writer, poet and organiser living in Glasgow.

His work across poetry, theatre and nonfiction explores questions of radical memory, community and the revolutionary transformation of society.
