Sally ClarkFossil fuel companies have an oily grip on our politics.
Their lobbyists have spent decades denying climate science and pushing governments to prevent the vital climate action we desperately need. They’ve done this through countless meetings with government officials, funding political parties, and even staffing government departments.
But at this month’s national meeting, we’re going to dig deeper into this problem and find out how to fix it, and kick fossil fuels out of our politics for good.
We’ll be joined by Paul Dobson, investigative reporter at The Ferret who will share insights from his research into fossil fuel influence on our politicians in Scotland.
We’ll also have Juliet Swann and Rose Whiffen from Transparency International UK to discuss how we can all take action by conducting our own research into fossil fuel lobbying, as well as talking about why it’s so important to improve transparency about fossil fuel influence at Westminster and Holyrood.
Finally, we will learn how to get involved in the campaign for a Fossil Free Parliament, and call on our MPs to end the influence of polluting businesses over our politics. We must hold politicians to account and make sure that they are working for the wellbeing of our communities – join us!
