Join us for the Friends of the Earth Scotland August National Meeting.
With extreme weather intensifying around the world, it is clearer than ever that the climate crisis is not some future threat. It is our current reality.
Yet around the world, millions of people are taking action to limit the worst impacts and build a fairer world.
In the essay Climate of Abundance, Rebecca Solnit reminds us “from the shift in renewables to the shifts in consciousness, what we need is already underway, but we need to cultivate and amplify it until it's how the world works and how we understand the world”.
For our August National Meeting we are taking stock of the climate crisis in 2025, and we are honoured to be joined by some amazing speakers:
Professor Kevin Anderson will give an honest account of what is needed to keep global warming to below the Paris Agreement commitment of 1.5°C.
Erika Lennon, Senior Attorney at the Centre for International Environmental Law will share the details and implications of the recent International Court of Justice ruling that states can be sued for climate inaction.
Caroline Rance, Head of Campaigns at Friends of the Earth Scotland will reflect on how this relates to the Scottish Government's upcoming carbon budgets and what this means for the movement in Scotland.
The only way to bring about the change we need, is by coming together to create it.
“There’s no single answer that will solve all of our future problems. There’s no magic bullet. Instead there are thousands of answers – at least. You can be one of them if you choose to be.” - Octavia Butler
