As world leaders and climate justice campaigners from around the world gather in Brazil for the UN climate talks COP30 please join us for an inspiring and uplifting new film about how we can turn our homes and our streets into renewable power stations!
‘Power Station’ is about two artists in Walthamstow who set out to take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered energy revolution
Inspired by lockdown mutual aid initiatives, artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn decided to turn their street into an energy-generating powerhouse – a prototype for a new way of living, with the hope of kickstarting a wider push towards sustainable alternatives.
Directed by the duo, ‘Power Station’ charts their turbulent journey, from pitching the idea to their neighbours and sleeping on the roof of their home, to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one single.
By turns funny and heartwarming, Powell and Edelstyn’s film is a vibrant portrait of their local neighbourhood, and a charming testament to the power of art and community in changing minds about what could be possible for a better future for everyone.
We're delighted to have one of the stars of the film Hilary Powell join us for an online Q&A as well.
We’ll have teas, coffees and vegan snacks available along with time for discussion after the film. Everyone is very welcome!
This event is organised by Stirling Methodist Church, Friends of the Earth Scotland, Eco Congregation Scotland, XR Stirling and Christian Climate Action.
