Kate WhitakerInfluencing politicians is a common tactic in many campaigns working for a fairer, greener world.
But do politicians even listen? Is this a good use of our time? How do you get to speak to them in the first place?
As individuals and community groups we have the right to contact and meet with our democratically elected officials to talk about the issues we care about. But doing that can feel intimidating and disempowering to some people.
In this training we will go through the basics of how to use ‘lobbying’ as a tactic in local and national campaigning, share top tips and think about how to use this alongside other tactics to create change.
We will then split into three groups to talk specifically about lobbying as a tool to:
- Stop AI Data Centres
- Win public ownership of our bus system
- A drop in space for questions and other issues
This event is open to anyone, whether you are working on a campaign or just interested in finding out more. No experience necessary!
