Freya AitchisonJoin us for an update on the campaign against the new Peterhead gas burning power station.
The last few months may have seemed like a quiet time for the campaign, but behind the scenes the Scottish Government has been sifting through the thousands of responses that you submitted to its consultation on the true climate cost of the new power station.
The huge volume of responses has significantly delayed the approval process and pushed it into potentially contentious election territory. Meanwhile, the backer of Scotland’s main carbon capture scheme, on which the Peterhead project is entirely reliant, is pulling out.
In this online session we will discuss what stage the Peterhead application is at, what the likely timelines are for decision making, and how the upcoming Scottish elections might affect the process. We’ll also reflect on a year of excellent actions in 2025 and look ahead to how we can continue to resist new gas power in 2026.
There will also be an opportunity to get more deeply involved in the campaign through the campaign forum, which is recruiting for new members!
So far we have managed to delay the approval of this climate-destroying power station for over three years – together we can stop it for good and push the Scottish Government towards true climate solutions that improve lives and bring down energy bills.
